HQ expands through partnership in Greensboro!

On Tuesday night, the HQ Raleigh team announced exciting plans to develop HQ Greensboro through a collaborative partnership with developer Andy Zimmerman. The space, located at 111 West Lewis Street in Greensboro’s Railyard district, will support high-impact entrepreneurs within the Triad by building upon the experience, brand, and community that we’ve created in the past two years here in Raleigh. HQ Greensboro is scheduled to open May 1, 2015.

Our main goal through this partnership is to build a strong regional community of entrepreneurs.

Says HQ Raleigh Co-Founder, Christopher Gergen, “This partnership will create an ideal environment to foster increased collaboration and idea collision, as well as cross-state opportunities for economic growth. By developing a bridge between the Triangle and the Triad, we’re enabling entrepreneurs in both regions to tap into a vibrant community and enhanced entrepreneurial opportunities.”

Initially, our team will provide consultative support to HQ Greensboro for its start-up and operations. This will include overall strategic consultation to help build a strong entrepreneurial brand and community in Greensboro, as well as guidance on programming, events, membership, space design, and administration.

The co-founders of HQ Greensboro include Andy Zimmerman, Ryan Barry, Ken Causey, and April Harris. Barry, Causey, and Harris will serve as the management team for new venture, hiring additional staff as needed and receiving consultative support from the HQ Raleigh team.

As part of an ongoing arrangement, the two entities have agreed to a reciprocal arrangement for their members: HQ Raleigh companies will gain access to collaborative space at HQ Greensboro and vice versa.

When renovation is complete, the 10,000 square foot development at 111 West Lewis Street will retain much of the character of its original 1898 stable and carriage house structure, featuring exposed brick walls, original wood, and support beams. The flexible space will include:

• More than 20 private offices of varying sizes,
• 3-4 meeting and conference rooms,
• 2 outside patios,
• Cafe space with a full-service kitchen and bar,
• Co-working space with desks, and
• Collaborative “soft space” with sofas, chairs, tables
• Access to adjacent maker space, The Forge.

As a shared workspace for entrepreneurs, HQ Greensboro will address two challenges that entrepreneurs face: building a trusted support community and gaining access to flexible, affordable office space.
